NAWC Surface Contact Training is a VR training sim built for training pilots to practice identifying various types of sea vessels when riding in heli-craft. This was a prototype done in conjunction with the Orlando Naval Air Warfare Center.
Overview
NAWC was looking to prototype surface-to-air contact training as to save the time and money it took to fly recruits up, have targets placed out at sea, and run training exercises to identify sea craft. The VR prototype consisted not just of the various sea craft they would need to identify, but also various weather conditions they may encounter at sea that may impede their ability to identify air craft. Within the project, I met with representatives from the navy base to go over time constraints and risks, negotiating deliverables for the project with subject matter experts, and designing and implementing UI for the VR system.
